Frequently Asked Questions

1. What do I need to bring with me?

When you come to your first visit at OBXPT it is very important that you bring your insurance card as well as your patient documents already filled out. It is our goal to see you promptly upon your arrival and this will reduce your wait time.

2. What should I wear?

You should wear comfortable clothes that enable us to treat your affected area. For example, if you have a knee injury, you should wear or bring shorts with you so that we can properly examine your knee.

3. How long does PT take?

The initial PT visit will take about 90 minutes. This allows for a proper and thorough evaluation. Subsequent visits will take between 60 and 90 minutes based on the plan of care that is prescribed for you.

4. Will I be the only patient there?

This may happen from time to time but the answer is most likely no. However, we do have private treatment rooms should there be a need for privacy.

5. Do I need a doctor’s referral?

This depends on your insurance carrier. All medicare patients need a doctor to refer them. BCBS patients on the other hand do not need a referral. This varies with each carrier and it is important for you to find out if your insurance requires a referral.

Pleased Patients

Amy was born to be PT. Her ability to put patients at ease while they are fearful and in pain sets her apart from the pack. She has a holistic approach to the body, all the while using her wealth of knowledge to promote wellness. She is brilliant, but brings the learning part of the rehabilitation process down to the laymanʼs level. No matter if you are the professional athlete, or the elderly patron, each patient is important, and her genuine love for the people she works with shines through.
